San Diego Symphony Summer Pops is Back!


Outdoor concerts have their own charm. And if they take place in a beautiful location then it is an icing on cake. The San Diego Symphony Summer Pops are going to take place on 27th June and will continue till 1st September, 2013 at the Embarcadero Marina Park South next to San Diego Bay near downtown San Diego.

Presented by the San Diego Symphony, the Summer Pops promises 10 weeks of wholesome entertainment which would feature the San Diego Symphony and other renowned performers such as Michael Bolton, Amy Grant, Nathan Pacheco, En Vogue, Debbie Gibson and many more.

The main conductor of the concerts will be Matthew Garbutt. Various performers will pay tribute to the Rolling Stones and The Bee Gees.

Apart from the musical concerts, there would also be Cirque Musica on 16th and 17th August that is an amalgamation of music, acrobatics and artistry. Aerialists and acrobats from Cirque du Soleil and Barnum & Bailey Circus will perform gravity defying stunts.

All concerts will begin from 7:30pm. You can choose from various seating options such as grandstand seating which includes fold-down chairs, cabaret tables or general lawn seating. You can buy food and beverages from the food court.

As mentioned above, the San Diego Symphony Summer Pops takes place in a beautiful setting near downtown San Diego. It will give all music lovers an opportunity to explore the picturesque locales around such as scenic Seaport Village or the Maritime Museum of San Diego.

Imagine more than 200 celebrated, award-winning, nationally recognized as well as local artists all under one roof! Come, see and admire paintings ranging from watercolor to oil paintings.

Meet the artists as they reveal their techniques. Discuss with them their inspirations! Also have a look at live chalk-art creations, photography, serigraph (or prints made by the silk-screen process), fine jewelry and sculptures made of glass, wood, ceramic, and metal.

Entertainment
LIVE contemporary music will be played out to entertain the crowds. Some of the performers set to enthrall the audience include Jazz88 All-Stars, Fred Benedetti and Peter Sprague, Dave Scott and Monsoon Jazz and more.

Food
La Jolla Festival of the Arts is not just about art but great food as well. Satisfy your taste buds with delicious gourmet cuisine. Complement the food with fine wine and craft beer. Now wouldn’t that make a wonderful day with rich cultural ambience, paintings, food and wine?

Produced by a non-profit organization -Torrey Pines Kiwanis, proceeds from the La Jolla Festival of the Arts will benefit the San Diegans’ with disabilities and raise funds to support adaptive sports and recreation programs for such people.

Time to Rock ‘n’ Roll and Run in San Diego


Get, Set, Go...!

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon is going to take place on 2nd June, 2013 at Balboa Park, San Diego, i.e. a weekend after Memorial Day. Considered as the 26.2-mile race and block party as well, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon attracts both locals as well as visitors. 

Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon includes a marathon, half-marathon and a relay. While the marathon will commence at 6:15 am, the half-marathon and relay will begin at 6:45 am from 6th Avenue & Quince Street in Balboa Park and will end at Petco Park – K Street & 13th Street. 

Whether you are an amateur or a professional runner, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon invites people of all abilities. As the name clearly suggests, it is a marathon and a great party, all in one event. At every mile along the route, you will find LIVE bands enthralling and encouraging everyone with electrifying music of all genres. 

The race will finish at Petco Park where you will be greeted with a concert by the popular 80’s English rock band The Psychedelic Furs. Along the entire course, there will be cheer teams and dance squads to encourage and cheer on the runners. 

Imagine running through the breathtaking San Diego Bay, marvelous Balboa Park and the Downtown! The marathon involves a picturesque route that allows runners to pass through the beautiful Balboa Park, North Park, Harbor Drive, along Mission Bay, Mission Valley, finally ending at PETCO Park in downtown. Isn’t this incredible? 

Facilities at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon: 

  • Every 1.5 to 2 miles, there will be water stations. And Gatorade will also be available there.
  • Medical stations will be deployed after every 2 miles on both courses.
  • There will be portable restrooms throughout both the courses.
Apart from San Diego, Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon series takes place in dozens of other cities as well in the USA and in some European cities. In San Diego city, this superb marathon is held a weekend after Memorial Day.

Entertaining & Learning at the San Diego Earth Fair


Get ready for the largest environmental fair in the world. The San Diego Earth Fair is going to take place on 21st April, 2013 at the Balboa Park.

The FREE annual fair is expected to attract 70,000 visitors this year. Organized by 400 volunteers, the 2013 San Diego Earth Fair will feature theme areas, food pavilion, over 350 exhibitors, earth gallery art show, Cleaner Car Concourse, Kid's activity area and LIVE entertainment.

Exhibitors from wildlife preservation groups will showcase organic crops and products made from naturally grown crops. At the earth gallery, you can check out works by artists which have been created with recycled materials. Buy energy saving products at the eHome area to make your home environment friendly.

Are children not letting you enjoy the fair in peace? Take them to the Kid's area where they can learn how to make paper and gift cards from recycled material, face painting and participate in hands-on activities.

Besides children can enjoy storytelling, and music at the children’ stage. Kids can also enjoy various fun games and crafts that are designed to educate children about the environment. The Children's Earth Parade will feature kids dressed up as endangered species to convey environment friendly messages. The parade will commence at 10:30am.

Attend Easter in Beautiful San Diego

There is City of Carlsbad EGG Stravaganza Spring Festival that will take place on 30th March, 2013 from 10am to 1pm at Poinsettia Park in Carlsbad. It is a fun event where the whole family can enjoy music, check out arts and crafts and collect eggs in the "Egg Scramble" race.

Kids can participate in games, enjoy giant slides and obstacle courses, and check out Fun Zone. Get your child to participate in the Kids race where they have to collect assorted eggs on the baseball fields. Apart from enjoying the games, feast on delicious Easter goodies, food and beverages.

You can also join the fun and the festivities at the Annual Easter Egg Hunt that will be held on 30th March, 2013 from 11am at Seagrove Park, Del Mar. The regular features of Easter events will be there - games, arts and crafts and egg hunt. Don't forget to bring an Easter basket to collect eggs. After the fun games, you can enjoy a picnic with your family.

In Encinitas too, Easter events will delight the visitors. There will be Annual Spring Egg Hunt that will take place on 30th March, 2013 from 10am to 1pm.
